Ruto Pledges Equal Development Across Kenya as He Tours Kericho

President William Ruto has pledged to ensure that government development reaches every part of Kenya, saying no community or region will be left behind.

Speaking to residents in Kokwet, Kipkelion West, Kericho County, on 11 September, Ruto said roads, electricity, healthcare, education and agriculture were central to his administration’s efforts to promote equitable development. He said the projects were intended not only to improve livelihoods but also to strengthen national unity by ensuring that communities across the country benefit from government investment.

Ruto acknowledged that his focus on equity has faced criticism but defended it as necessary for Kenya’s stability. He warned that discrimination and unequal treatment could create resentment and deepen divisions among communities.

“Mambo ya ubaguzi ndio inaleta kisirani, mambo ya ubaguzi ndio inaleta chuki,” he said, linking discrimination to social tensions and conflict.

The President also appealed for public support for his development agenda, pointing to projects in Kericho as evidence of his government’s commitment to spreading investment across the country. He said every region would benefit from government programmes regardless of its history or political alignment.

Ruto has consistently presented equitable development as a key part of his administration’s approach, arguing that investment should not be concentrated in a few areas. The policy is aimed at addressing regional disparities while promoting greater inclusion and national cohesion. In his closing remarks, Ruto said Kenya’s future depended on ensuring that all communities participated in and benefited from development.

“Every part of the Republic of Kenya will be on board and we are going to leave no community, we are going to leave no region, we are going to leave no area left behind,” he said.
