Family Seeks Ksh360,000 to Repatriate Kenyan Woman Who Died in Indonesia

The family of a 26-year-old Kenyan woman who died in Indonesia is appealing for Ksh360,000 to bring her remains home for burial.

Ashley Atieno Odhiambo died in Indonesia on 3 August while seeking employment opportunities in the country. Her brother, Ismail Okwero, said Indonesian authorities issued a death certificate stating that she died from natural causes after an external examination.

The family said they had approached government offices for assistance but had not received the support needed to complete the repatriation process. They were informed that transporting Ashley’s remains to Kenya would cost Ksh860,000. The family has raised Ksh500,000, leaving a shortfall of Ksh360,000.

Ashley’s relatives, who live in Asembo, Rarieda Constituency, Siaya County, are appealing to well-wishers to help meet the remaining cost so that she can be buried in her ancestral home. Those willing to assist can contact the family on 0768 394 550.
