Kalonzo Musyoka Condoles With Martha Karua Over Father’s Death

Wiper Patriotic Front leader Kalonzo Musyoka visited Martha Karua at her home on Monday evening to condole with her following the death of her father, Mwalimu Jackson Karua.

Musyoka described the late educator as a respected teacher whose influence extended beyond his family to the generations of students he taught and mentored. He said he had visited Karua, whom he referred to as his “political twin and sister”, to offer his condolences to the family.

“This evening, I visited my political twin and sister, Hon. Martha Wangari Karua, at her home to condole her and the entire Karua family on the passing of her beloved father, Mwalimu Jackson Karua,” Musyoka said.

He also prayed for comfort and strength for Karua and her family as they mourned the loss. Karua, who leads the People’s Liberation Party, said her father died on Sunday after she and her siblings had spent the day with him at his home in Kirinyaga.

She said the family had sung his favourite gospel hymn during their visit, unaware that it would be their final time together. Karua said she learnt of his death while travelling back to Nairobi.

“On my way back to Nairobi, I received the news that my beloved father had breathed his last,” she said.

In her tribute, Karua described her father as a man who valued education, integrity and doing what was right. She said he passed those principles on to his children and remained a loving and supportive father throughout his life. Karua said her father was remembered not only for his work as a teacher but also for his role as a father to his children and grandfather to his grandchildren.

“There is never really an age at which you are prepared to say goodbye to someone who has been part of your life from the very beginning,” she said.

Mwalimu Jackson Karua’s death has been mourned by members of the family and political colleagues, who have paid tribute to his contribution as an educator and father.
