Foreign Affairs Principal Secretary Roseline Njogu met with Armenia’s High Commissioner for Diaspora Affairs, Zareh Sinanyan, in Yerevan for the inaugural session of the Joint Implementation Committee (JIC).

The committee operates under a Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation in Diaspora Affairs that both nations signed on June 18, 2026.

According to the State Department for Diaspora Affairs, the talks aimed to turn the agreement into practical programmes. Discussions centred on institutional knowledge exchange, youth initiatives, cultural cooperation, and active diaspora engagement.

Both delegations also shared strategies for managing diaspora relations and building stronger ties between Kenyan and Armenian communities living abroad.

The JIC meetings were scheduled to precede the Global Armenian Summit 2026, which opens in Armenia this week.

State officials noted that the committee provides a formal framework to coordinate the memorandum. The structure is designed to help Nairobi and Yerevan tap into the expertise, networks, and experiences of their respective global citizens.
