Kenya Names Dan Ochieng Minister Counsellor and Head of Chancery in Ottawa

Seasoned diplomat and legal professional Dan Ochieng has assumed office as the new Minister Counsellor and Head of Chancery at the Kenyan High Commission in Ottawa, Canada.
Ochieng arrived in the Canadian capital this week and received a formal welcome from embassy personnel during a luncheon hosted by Acting High Commissioner Geoffrey Kaituko. The gathering brought together members of the mission's staff, locally engaged employees, and Ochieng’s family.
In his new senior administrative role, Ochieng will work alongside Kaituko to coordinate daily diplomatic operations and advance bilateral ties. The High Commission stated that his background would bolster the mission's capacity to deliver on its core responsibilities.
"The Mission is delighted to have him join the team and looks forward to working closely together in advancing Kenya’s interests in Canada and delivering on the Mission’s mandate," the embassy said.
The appointment comes as Kenya pursues deeper economic and diplomatic partnerships with Canada. The Ottawa-based mission plays a central role in promoting bilateral trade, investment, cooperation, and the welfare of Kenyans living in the country. The embassy wished Ochieng and his family a fulfilling stay as he begins his new assignment.
