The Kenyan embassy in Washington, DC says it will only work with recognized and registered diaspora associations.
In a notice sent out in May, 2018, the embassy urged diaspora associations and organizations that are yet to register with them to do so before October 31st, 2018.
The embassy says only Kenyan Parents in USA (based in Georgia), Kenyan Christian Fellowship in America (KCFA) Triangle Chapter (based in North Carolina) and Kenyan Women in the United States (KWITU) (based in New Jersey) have complied with their new rules of engagement announced in May, 2018.
"To this end, as we continue to focus in strengthening the engagement with the Kenyan Diaspora in the US through the Diaspora Associations we kindly request you to once again to address the matter and make the necessary arrangements to forward the required information," the notice read in part.
Diaspora associations are required to submit copies of the Constitution, names of duly elected officials and complete contact details including telephone number, postal and physical address and website if any to the embassy during registration.
"This information is important, as it will enable the Mission to execute the key interventions spelt out in the Diaspora Policy by partnering with the respective Diaspora Associations located in the United States."
"The required information can be sent by email to janemmugweh@kenyaembassydc.org or amboffice@kenyaembassydc.org. on or before October 31st, 2018.
