Gichuhi, who hails from Othaya, Nyeri County, worked as a lecturer at the University of Nairobi (UoN) and National Agricultural Laboratories before moving to the US in 2000.

He was preparing to return to Kenya last November but could not travel due to COVID-19 restrictions. Gichuhi leaves behind a widow and nine children.

His family is making arrangements to repatriate his remains to Othaya, his desired final resting place. Family and friends are appealing for financial support from well-wishers to help airlift his body to Kenya for burial.

For financial support can be sent to Bernard Ogenga: CashApp - 7324339754 ($Bernard Ogenga).

I understand that COVID-19 is taking some of our Brothers and Sisters in Diaspora. And I am Sad and Sorry. BUT: Why is it about 8 or 9 out of 10 lost are from CENTRAL Kenya?

  2. KanyaneseMar 2, 2021

I thought the answer ought to be obvious. They probably constitute 80% of Kenyans abroad.

Where from did you get the figures? Which research and evidence based sources? It appears this is meant to send a certain message that Kikuyus are catching COVID-19 due to their behaviors and habits, especially when you have not provided your sources. Bias and stereotyping come into play. Shindwe!

I see the death announcements but it does not state or appear that all died of COVID. It may also be that more people from Central advertise here than others from other areas. Very misleading and biased interpretation of data.

So, you've done your research and concluded that 8/9 out of 10 are from central Kenya? Publish your scientific research instead of engaging in rumour mongering

I used to listen to new in Kenya and "matangazo ya vifo", and was wondering why people from western province died more than from other parts of the country! I came to find out that, these people from the western part of Kenya did broadcast their relatives death on radio more than the other areas. It was not because they died more than the other ethnic groups. Before you throw some fake statistics about who dies from where, do your research and leave stereo type innuendos alone.

However, CNN says that African Americans hardly live upto 65 years. Obesity, drugs, diabetes, cardiovascular diseases are to blame
