Kenyan Man Charged with Raping an 86-Year-Old Woman at a Nursing Home in Kansas
A Kenyan man has been arrested and charged with rape in the US state of Kansas.
Samuel Wambugu is accused of sexually assaulting an 86-year-old resident of a nursing home in Overland Park, Kansas.
Police say the accused was a former staff member at The Heritage of Overland Park nursing home, where he allegedly committed the heinous act on January 20th.
“Thinking about an older woman who likely was not able to protect herself being sexually assaulted is just heartbreaking,” said Mitzi McFatrich, interim director of Kansas Advocates for Better Care.
Wambugu is said to have forced himself on the elderly woman, according to court documents.
“Last week, our community experienced an incident involving potential abuse of one of our residents. Given the serious nature of the event, we notified law enforcement and the State authorities, as well as our resident’s families,” The Heritage said in a statement.
“Although we are not able to share details, this matter has been the subject of an investigation, and the individual involved has been arrested and terminated.”
FOX4 reported that it has been almost three years since the last inspection at The Heritage and during that inspection, three complaints were investigated in 2019.
Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, inspections were put on hold and The Heritage could not guarantee this was an isolated incident.
“This incident has been deeply disturbing to all of us and sent a shockwave through our community. We are reviewing all issues relating to this incident to ensure the safety and protection of all our residents. We are a team of loving and caring individuals who value and respect our residents deeply,” the facility added.
Officials said Wambugu was arrested and booked into the Johnson County jail.

Having worked in nursing homes and hospitals patients will say anything and they are believed so don’t be so quick to judge. This nurse home patients are confused and when they get cleaned by males they are prone to make any accusations.

Dementia can do awful things to the human mind. Back in the day when I was a CNA, there was an old mzungu woman who actually believed I was her adopted son and to keep her happy I called her mom.
I also worked with a female geriatric patient who thought I was her husband “Ronny” and more often than not used to say” Ronny, are we getting it tonight”. Dementia is a terrible disease
