India to Support Two Young Tech Experts
The High Commission of India in Kenya has offered to support two young experts in the technology and innovation field.
The move will be realised through a contest dubbed the Pamoja Hackathon and Innovation Challenge, which has since attracted more than 120 participants from various regions of the country. The challenge will run for six weeks, beginning May 1st, 2023, with May 31st serving as the deadline for applicants to submit their working prototypes. After the submissions, the organisers will declare ten finalists.
"With over 120+ unique submissions, we are now gearing up for the finale to be held on Thursday, 15th June 2023 at Hotel Sarova Panafric, Valley Road, Nairobi which will see Top-10 shortlisted ideas/entrepreneurs pitching to an audience comprising Government representatives, industry leaders, successful entrepreneurs, and investors," the communique reads in part.
The ten participants will take part in a boot camp from June 5 to 9 ahead of the result announcement on June 15. This competition is designed to strengthen and expand the start-up and innovation sector in both countries by empowering Kenyans aged 18 to 30 with entrepreneurial abilities. The challenge has tasked the contestants to provide solutions for a myriad of challenges prominent within industries such as financial services, agriculture, manufacturing, education, logistics, and technology.
“At the finale, a jury will select the top-two winners to be awarded an all-expenses paid week-long innovation ecosystem tour to India, which will enable them to build linkages and further establish their ventures.” stated the communique.
