President Ruto Inaugurates 2nd Annual Kenya Diaspora Conference

President William Ruto on Wednesday presided over the commencement of the Kenya Diaspora Investment Conference (KDIC).

The Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC) will host a three-day conference titled "Tujenge Kenya; Bridging Borders, Building Futures." This event serves to highlight investment prospects in different sectors of the economy for diaspora members. Additionally, it seeks to encourage conversations regarding the legal and regulatory structure for diaspora investments, while also fostering networking and collaboration among various stakeholders.

At the inauguration event, President William Ruto shared his strong conviction in Kenya's upcoming transformation over the next ten years, affirming that the nation will witness such a significant changeover, rendering it nearly unidentifiable. He explained that despite all Kenyan leaders recognising what measures need to be taken, they often neglect to implement them.

Therefore, this time, their mindset will be determined and unwavering in taking deliberate courses of action. He acknowledged that difficult and discerning decisions must be made on this venture. The President affirmed that steps are already in motion and that his administration is wholly devoted to elevating the state of the country.

“All leaders in Kenya know what should be done, but it never gets done; so this time round we are going to be intentional and deliberate because we must do it. It is going to take difficult and smart decisions; I promise you we are very well underway in making sure that we change our country,” President Ruto stated.

Kenyans in the diaspora remain hopeful that the government will improve the conditions for investment within the nation. In order to attract investments from overseas Kenyans, the government is dedicated to establishing frameworks that simplify the process of investing in the country. Meanwhile, the Diaspora Alliance has urged the government to prioritize the welfare of Kenyans residing abroad, empowering them to make substantial investments in their homeland.
