Kenyan Woman Unsettling Encounter as a Suspected Drug Mule on a US Flight

The quality of in-flight meals leaves much to be desired, and there are instances where passengers may feel compelled to decline them.
It is within their rights to do so. However, it is important to note that refusing meals can potentially raise concerns among flight attendants, who may then suspect the passenger of being involved in drug smuggling. This very situation occurred to a Kenyan traveller named Savane during her journey to the United States. Savane shared her experience, highlighting the consequences of refusing meals on board.
Flight attendants are trained to closely observe passenger behaviour as a primary means of identifying potential drug mules. They continually inquire to validate their suspicions, as consuming food or drinks could cause movement within the digestive system that could lead to the drugs being disposed of in the aircraft's restroom. For Savane, this scenario unfolded during a long-haul flight with Air France. In general, she is not fond of airline cuisine and therefore rarely eats during her travels.
On this particular trip, her lack of appetite was because she was returning from a close friend's funeral. The profound grief she experienced had completely diminished her desire to eat. Despite the flight attendants constantly checking if she wanted to eat, she declined each time. The immigration officer at JFK Airport asked numerous unsettling questions. Upon entering Customs she was met by three officers. They thoroughly searched and x-rayed her bags. Subsequently, she was taken into a separate room for further interrogation.
After being patted down, they expressed a desire to conduct an internal body check. It was at this point that she inquired about the reason, only to be informed that her behaviour during the flight matched that of a drug smuggler. She put out a tearful outburst regarding her short trip (to attend a funeral). Ultimately, they did not proceed with an internal body search.

Anyway this was so unfortunate. It's humiliating, but you cannot blame the airline. Reminds me,at the height of drug trafficking in the 90s a Naija was nabbed at Orlando International Airport with a vial of heroin with traces of feces . Apparently he had used the airplane toilet and decided not to re-swallow the contaminated 'capsule'.The Feds were tracking him anyway so probably re -swallowing would not have worked. For is troubles, he will spend 40 years on federal dough...If he survives, he comes out at 78.Some of you may recall this case. The accomplice was a Naija who used to play in NFL.Luckly for him,the footballer dodged the bullet, but that was the end of his NFL career.

4th Amendment Protections, my friend.
The airlines must have Probable Cause of a crime being or Reasonable Suspicion a crime was, is and will be committed to satisfy a Reasonable Search and Seizures at the airports. If you CONSENT to a search they gonna search the hell out of you. Security has to Articulate why refusing to eat rises to the levels of a Reasonable Search. Just because refusing to eat during a flight happen to be synonymous with traits of a mule doesn't satisfy grounds for a search. Don't forget there's also Good Faith Exception Doctrine to your disadvantage as a traveller.

Ma fren, I respectfully disagree! Most people are mistaken and some try to bring drama to US CBP, even when they are completely innocent, they will get detained up until the CBP has thoroughly determined that they are not committing crimes or bringing anything into the country! They have a lot of power! I urge you to watch “To catch a smuggler@ on Discovery! You will learn a lot!
If you cooperate, you’ll will be on your way within no time! Otherwise, you will be a “suspected criminal, until proven otherwise!
