Kenyan Diaspora Leaders Engage with Government on Policy, Investment Opportunities

The Kenyan diaspora community has been actively engaging with government officials to discuss key issues and explore opportunities for involvement back home.

Dr Jason Musyoka, a Development Economist and Kenyan Diaspora member in South Africa, along with Pastor Peter Antony Gichero of the Christian Foundation Fellowship South Africa, paid a courtesy call to Principal Secretary Roseline Njogu yesterday. Their discussion centred around the draft Diaspora Policy 2024, continuous diaspora engagement, and investment opportunities that Kenyans abroad can venture into.

Musyoka and Gichero are part of a delegation visiting the country to explore prospects in the tourism sector and other fields. The diaspora leaders also expressed gratitude for the recent successful Mobile Consular Services outreach exercise in South Africa, where hundreds of Kenyans received various consular services. This initiative highlights the government's efforts to facilitate and support its citizens abroad, ensuring they have access to essential services.

In another meeting, PS Njogu hosted Rev G.G Gitahi, Bishop of the Kenya American Community Church (KACC), at the Diaspora Affairs offices. Their discussion focused on diaspora issues, interventions, and the ongoing Mobile Consular Services in the United States. Strategies to inform more Kenyans about these services and how to access them were also covered. Bishop Gitahi emphasized the crucial role religious institutions play in bringing Kenyans abroad together and providing a support system for expanding the diaspora community.

These institutions foster a sense of unity and belonging among Kenyans living abroad, further strengthening the diaspora's ties to their homeland. Through these engagements, the Kenyan government appears determined to demonstrate its commitment to creating an enabling environment for the diaspora's participation in national development. As prominent diaspora leaders weigh in on key policies and showcase investment prospects, the diaspora's potential to drive growth and development in their home country is being recognized and harnessed.

I do hope these thugs using the diaspora folks are representing their interests only. Kenyans abroad do not need a fake preacher and a psycho doctor to represent their interests to the Ruto regime. The remittance to Kenya by the diasporas clearly indicated what those living overseas have been doing back home without any fake representation.

A man wearing some red-dotted socks is simply a con man. He will hose anyone and run as fast as the black dot on his silly socks.

The heavily dressed guy with unmatching everything must be the kamba guy! For sure they love flowery colors, and he has played his part to impress PS Njogu. Maybe he is looking for a kikuyu wife and that’s why he involved a preach man to solemnize the union.

Yepa...Nyaboke! Very funny man. You have made my day with this comment. ati solemnize the union with his polka dot socks and Rev sidekick next to him? This had me in stitiches esp when you see the body language of the PS Njogu as he is tuning her and she is assessing whether to trust his moves or not.
Kweli this is a free for all. Some look for money, others power and others just following their classical male urges of paternity.
Thank you for your powerful insight...you sir are a gem.

We know this obsession with diaspora is just about hunting down government critics and assassinating them.

Nothing to see there.

Policy issues should be discussed in parliament and senate.
These people need to take their ideas there.

Otherwise,
The Vienna convention covers diaspora issues.

Calling it diaspora instead of foreign affairs does not change anything.

Whose leaders?Maybe they gave their families’,churches’ or close friends’ grievances but none of them spoke for me.I could have moved to court to block the so-called meeting between clueless PS and pretender churchmen as they could not raise the CONMANSHIP issue by hyenas led by fake bishop Ngari,a.k.a,Gakuyo,thug elder Githaka of FEP etc gangsters.waNjogu must explain status of the case and how I will get back my money FULLSTOP

@toto, these animals have realized the leaders in Kenya have no moral values and they too want to get involved in corruption in the name of helping the diasporas.

One must be very stupid to think these two guys plus Njogu have the people’s interests at heart! Kenya has become a man-eat man society and no one cares about the other guy. That is the standard Ruto has set for the country and it is destroying our country badly.

I pray that God does a “Magufuli” to Ruto. Anyone who oppresses the citizens of a country does not deserve to live. The conman has really Terrorized the ordinary Kenyan people to the maximum!

Disregard the government’s attempt trying to figure out how to tap into the diaspora remittances. They’re just throwing mud at the wall and hope it sticks. That’s the bottom up hustle work for you.

Decade in decade out of Table talk & conferences has never materialized. How about Diasporan investing with registered Saccos of different industry that are fully bonded by Government sureties.
