Five Kenyan men find themselves stranded in Qatar after falling victim to an agency's false promises of employment abroad.
Their aspirations for a better life have devolved into a harrowing experience marked by exploitation, hunger, and despair. Concurrently, another group of Kenyans in Dubai face similar hardships having paid for jobs that failed to materialize, leaving them to sleep on staircases and question their decision to seek work overseas. The Al Wajibb Agency, operating out of Mombasa, Kenya, allegedly deceived these five individuals, charging each Sh 150,000 for non-existent positions in Qatar.
A TikTok video shared by one of the victims reveals that the agency's office is situated at Makadara Ground in Mombasa County, under the leadership of an individual known as Abu. Upon arrival in Qatar, the men's hopes of securing work as cleaners or security personnel were quickly dashed as they discovered the agency's deception. One of the stranded individuals expressed their dismay, stating, "We were placed in this company, but it did not have anything to do with cleaning or security."
The discrepancy between their visas and the promised employment left them in a precarious position. When they sought assistance from the agent, he reportedly dismissed them, claiming a lack of resources to help. The five Kenyans now endure hunger and are unable to communicate with their families due to insufficient data. Their plight underscores the vulnerability of migrant workers who fall prey to unscrupulous agencies. These men, who set out in search of a brighter future, find themselves ensnared in a web of exploitation and broken promises.
The situation has sparked outrage and sympathy among Kenyans on social media platforms. Some, like Shanny, expresses anger towards the agency, while others, such as Rozzy and Denno, calls for solidarity among Kenyans in Qatar.

If it sounds too good to be true, then most likely it is, family and friends in Kenya must come together to get them back home to kenya.
I hope that they make it back to Kenya safe.
