Renowned Coastal Musician Ally B, famous for his chart-topping songs 'Maria' and 'Bembea' sadly passed away on Wednesday, November 1st.
According to his younger brother Mohammed Ramadhan, Ally B had been battling pneumonia for two weeks. Although he was enrolled in Coast General Teaching and Referral Hospital (CGTRH), he was later cleared as his health showed significant improvements. To everyone's surprise, despite continuous urging by his family to return home, Ally B insisted on fulfilling his commitments in Kilifi before returning to Mombasa. However, upon his arrival at the family home on Wednesday afternoon, he was visibly sweating and requested his brother to take him to a nearby hospital.
Unfortunately, the examining doctor noticed a significant deterioration in his condition including a drastic drop in blood pressure. He referred him back to the Coast General Teaching and Referral Hospital. Joining President William Ruto in mourning the untimely loss of the humble musician include Senate Speaker Amason Kingi, Gender Cabinet Secretary Aisha Jumwa, politician Hassan Joho, EALA MP Suleiman Shahbal, and Governors Abdulswamad Nassir, George Natembeya, and Gideon Mung'aro among others leaders.
Ally B fearlessly stepped into the political arena in 2017, throwing his hat in the ring as a Jubilee candidate for the Junda ward representative seat. Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi has expressed deep sadness at the loss, acknowledging the musician's vibrant talent and profound impact on the hearts of many. Mudavadi also acknowledges the invaluable contribution the late singer made in preserving and celebrating Mijikenda culture through his music.
