4 Killed, 11 Injured in IED Attack in Mandera County

Four people were killed, including a local chief, and eleven others injured in an IED explosion in Sheikh Barrow , Mandera County on Friday.

The incident occurred after a Public Service Vehicle (PSV) carrying 15 people and travelling between El-Wak and Mandera ran over an IED.

Mandera County Commissioner Fredrick Shisia confirmed the incident that occurred around 2pm on Friday, saying that “The vehicle operates on the road as a public service vehicle and was carrying 15 passengers when it [run over] what we suspect to be [a home-made bomb].”

There was no immediate claim of responsibility, but authorities suspect Al Shabaab to be behind the attack.
