Uhuru, Ruto to be Sworn into Office on August 29th

President Uhuru Kenyatta and Deputy President William Ruto will be sworn in to a second term in office on Tuesday, August 29th unless his win is challenged in the Supreme Court.

Unless a petition is made to the Supreme Court before that date, the two will take the oath in the presence of Chief Justice David Maraga in line with the constitution, which requires that the winner be sworn in on the 14th date after the announcement of the presidential election results.

The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) declared President Uhuru Kenyatta and William Ruto on Friday, August 11th as the winners of the presidential election held on Tuesday, August 12th.

Raila might use his surrogates to file cases challenging Uhuru win. This is a potential that might delay the swearing in. Should Raila be invited even though he will not show up?
