National Super Alliance (NASA) has put on spot three Cabinet secretaries and their role in August 8th general elections during their oral submissions to the Supreme Court on Monday.
Senior Counsel Okongo Omogeni, representing Raila Odinga in the petition accused Cabinet Secretaries Eugene Wamalwa (Water), Mwangi Kiunjuri (Devolution) and Joe Mucheru (ICT) of displaying open bias and, in some instances, intimidating voters to vote for President Uhuru Kenyatta.
Omogeni argued that three President Uhuru cabinet members acted contrary to the law by being partisan and by openly drumming support for their boss (Uhuru) yet they are public officers.
Unlike Interior Principal Secretary Karanja Kibicho, who in a sworn affidavit defended his conduct during the electioneering period, Amollo said, Wamalwa, Kiunjuri and Mucheru have failed to exonerate themselves on why they took part in campaigns.
Senior Counsel James Orengo and Amollo want the top court in the land to find that the three cabinet members violated the Leadership and Integrity Act and the Constitution by actively being involved in President Uhuru's campaigns.
