Anti-Graft Detectives Raid Former Cabinet Secretary Michael Kamau's Residence in Nairobi

Detectives from the Ethics and Anti-corruption Commission (EACC) on Tuesday morning raided the home of former Transport Cabinet Secretary Michael Kamau.

The raid by the anti-graft officials was conducted at Kamau's residence located in Windy Ridge, Karen.

In 2015, Eng. Kamau was been charged with abuse of office. The case was later dismissed by the Court of Appeal on grounds that EACC had not been properly constituted by the time it forwarded his name for prosecution.

Later on, the ex-CS sought to have the case against him terminated by way of discharge and not acquittal. However, last month, Justice Hedwig Ong’undi declined to grant Kamau the orders, paving the way for EACC to investigate him afresh.

“The appeal was not based on the manner the investigations were carried out or the innocence of the applicant.

“That is why the court of appeal did not get into the substance of the investigations undertaken by EACC,” he ruled.

Kamau was also accused of flouting procurement procedures in the Sh33 million tender for the redesign of Kamukuywa-Kaptama-Kapsokwony-Sirisia road, awarded to Engiconsult Consulting Engineers.

The prosecution said Kamau committed the offences between 2007 and 2008 when he served as the Permanent Secretary in the ministry of Roads and Public Works.

He was charged after President Kenyatta suspended him as Transport CS in 2015 over graft allegations.
