Deputy President William Ruto says he is more than ready to undergo a lifestyle audit recently as ordered on all state officers by President Uhuru Kenyatta.
Ruto, who spoke during an interview with NTV on Sunday night, said he has nothing to hide but declined to disclose how much he is worth.
Ruto further stated that he acquired everything that he owns genuinely through hard-work, and has never been involved in any corrupt dealings either as an MP or as the Deputy President.
“My friends, William Ruto has never ever been involved in any form of corruption either as MP or today serving as deputy president and I give my pledge that I will not,” said the DP.
Ruto lamented that the media had reduced the lifestyle audit to a debate about him, stating that he's not among individuals in the country who are known to be filthy rich.
"Mark can you truthfully say that William Ruto is a rich man in this country? Richer than the people that we all know?" the DP posed after interrupting the journalist.
"I wouldn't say that I am in the class of people that Kenyans would be interested to know what they own. There are people who own things in this country, I am not in that class."
“I heard in Kakamega someone who said that kijana ya maskini akipata ameiba, lakini kijana wa tajiri akiiba, ni ya baba yake (when a poor man’s son gets wealth, it’s stolen, but when the rich man’s son steals, they say it belongs to the father),” he added.

Mheshimiwa Dr. Ruto: Naomba tafadhali utuambie yaliyotendeka katika kanisa la Kiambaa huko Eldoret baada ya uchaguzi wa 2007! Kama sivyo, naomba unyamaze.
I fully support His Excellence DP Rutto is his sentiments, the Kenya we are is now like few people wants to monopolise and shutdown all the hard working men....what happened in Taambach isn't in Ruttos' blames as some people wish to brand him behind the act,he himself was busy fighting with Kivuitu and his team.
What Kenya needs to do is compare the wealth of every public servant with the poorest of the constituency they are serving or they have been serving. That should tell us how well they are doing as "public servants". - Very important
