Joyce Wanjiku Nominated as Kiambu Deputy Governor

Joyce Wanjiku Ngugi has been nominated for the position of Kiambu Deputy Governor.

Wanjiku, who was eyeing the Gatundu South MP seat in 2017 but dropped out of the race citing intimidation from her rivals, was nominated to the post by Kiambu Governor James Nyoro on Wednesday.

Wanjiku, a counseling psychologist, holds a master’s degree in Education from Kenyatta University and a Bachelor of Science in Education degree from Egerton University.

She has been serving as the Chairperson of the National Council for Children Services. She is the widow of former Gatundu South MP Joseph Ngugi who succumbed to cardiac arrest in 2014.

Nyoro was sworn-in as the new Kiambu Governor following the impeachment of Ferdinand Waititu over gross misconduct and abuse of office, among other allegations.

Wanjiku will assume the role once she is vetted and approved by the Kiambu County Assembly.
