Five Suspected Members of Drinks Spiking Gang Arrested at Rainbow Hotel in Ruiru

Five people suspected to be part of a gang that has been drugging and robbing revelers in Kiambu and Nairobi have been arrested.

The suspects were nabbed by officers from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) at Rainbow Hotel in Ruiru on Sunday following a tip-off from members of the public.

They were identified as Salome Njuguna, Rahab Mburu, Naomi Njuguna, Peninah Wanjiru, and Hilary Waweru. All are aged between 24 and 30 years.

“Mobile phones and several bottles bearing labels of various brands of alcohol, and which are believed to contain stupefying substances were also confiscated from the five,” DCI said in a statement on Monday.

The DCI noted that the seized items will be taken to the laboratory for forensic analysis to establish their content as further investigation into the suspects’ modus operandi continues.
