Michael Mithamo Ordained as First-Ever Blind Catholic Priest in Kenya

Michael Mithamo King'ori was on Saturday ordained as the first-ever blind priest in the history of the Catholic Church in Kenya.

Father Mithamo of the Catholic Archdiocese of Nyeri was conferred holy orders by Archbishop Anthony Muheria.

“Jubilation and thanksgiving to God as the Catholic Church in Kenya witness the extraordinary ordination of the first blind priest, Rev Deacon Michael Mithamo King'ori of the Catholic Archdiocese of Nyeri to the priesthood,” Radio Maria Kenya announced via social media.

“His is a story of "with God, all things are possible." Congratulations to Fr Michael Mithamo and gratitude to Rev Anthony Muheria for granting such a fete of grace.”

Prior to his appointment, Mithamo was a deacon at the Catholic Archdiocese of Nyeri.

He was ordained along with Alexander Murage Wanjiku, Joseph Waihenya Kirira, George Gitonga Wamuyu, Mathew Karimi Njogu and John Wanjohi Nyawira.
