Kenya Airways Warns of a Fake Job Vacancy Advertisement

Kenya Airways (KQ) has warned members of the public of a fake recruitment notice making the rounds on social media platforms.

In a statement on Monday, the airline stated that a poster inviting applications for clerks, cleaners, and toll attendants in the company was fictitious, adding that their job vacancies are only uploaded on their official account on Linkedln.

“Beware of fake job advertisements associated with Kenya Airways. All KQ vacancies are posted on our LinkedIn channel,” KQ said on its official Twitter account.“Check before you trust,” it added.

The fake job advert claimed that candidates should expect a net salary of Sh45,000- Sh60,000 which is negotiable after three months of probation.

“Send your CV's before January 22, 2023," read part of the fake notice.

KQ’s warning comes days after the National Authority for the Campaign Against Alcohol and Drug Abuse (NACADA) raised an alarm over a fake job advert circulating on social media.

NACADA said the notice purporting to advertise over 1,000 permanent and pensionable jobs did not originate from the agency and urged members of the public to ignore it.

"Our attention has been drawn to the advertisement below on purported vacancies at the Authority. We wish to inform members of the public that the announcement is FAKE and should thus be dismissed with contempt," NACADA said.

"The Authority does not charge for any application and neither does it engage individuals to conduct hiring of staff on its behalf," NACADA added.

The State agency urged the public to confirm the validity of advertisements bearing the NACADA brand through its website (www.nacada.go.ke) and social media pages; Twitter (@NACADAKenya), Facebook (Nacada Kenya) and Instagram (@nacada.kenya).

It is a well known fact that KQ is on financial life support. The scammer(s) should have been a little creative and mention Safaricom or Kenya Power.
