Raila Likens President Ruto to Biblical Zacchaeus as He Urges Kenyans to Resist Punitive Taxes

Azimio la Umoja One Kenya coalition leader Raila Odinga has castigated President Ruto’s administration for imposing punitive and unjust taxes on Kenyans.

While urging Kenyans to resist paying such taxes, Odinga likened Ruto to the biblical tax collector Zacchaeus, who is known for his unethical and exploitative practices.

“We ask that all Kenyans demand the removal of these punitive taxes. There will be no taxation without representation,” Raila said during a rally at Jacaranda grounds in Nairobi on Sunday afternoon.

Odinga also accused Ruto of what he termed as an attempt to capture major institutions in the country, citing the recent leadership changes in key State and private corporations such as Safaricom. He claimed this was part of a wider scheme to loot public resources.

“In the last few weeks, Ruto has replaced the leadership of various parastatals with his shady characters. We know that this is meant for the looting of public resources,” Odinga said.

Odinga vowed not to be intimidated in his mission to fight for the rights of the people and would be staging a series of public rallies in the coming weeks.

“You [Ruto] don’t know us, go and ask Bwana Nyayo (Daniel Moi). I have said you don’t know us! The power of the people is the voice of God. We want Kenyans to stand firm,” Odinga added.

He indicated that his next rally will be in Kibra next week followed by Machakos and other parts of the country before returning to Nairobi for another mega rally.

“We will go to every part of Kenya. We will visit Machakos, Nakuru, Kakamega, Kisii, Kisumu, Kiambu then we will be back to Nairobi,” Odinga noted.

Raila needs to talk about policies not about the last elections. Not only are some of his supporters being fatigued by the same old story. the Supreme Court concluded that issue. Period.
