Kenyan Man Killed During a Bullfighting Match

A family in Kakamega county is mourning the death of their son, who died during a bullfighting match.

26-year-old Bramwel Andugu was attending the cultural festival at Malinya Stadium in Ikolomani on Sunday when one of the bulls ran amok and hit him.

His father Maurice Andugu said his son died from the injuries he suffered during bullfighting festival attended by hundreds of spectators.

"He was struck by a bull during one of the fights pitting 'Nandi' against 'Power'. One of the bulls charged towards his direction before goring him," witnesses said.

His wife Joyce Andugu said her late husband was rushed to Kakamega County Referral Hospital, where he died while undergoing treatment.

The deceased’s family has called for proper measures to ensure crowd control during the popular bullfighting festival.

Last year, a 68-year-old woman was killed in a similar incident at Khayega in Shinyalu constituency.

This is barbaric, and should be outlawed. What fun does one get watching animals hurt each other? It is a wonder and a blessing that only one person was killed.Unfortunate for the family of the diceased, of course, but could you imagine that over 800 pound animal deciding to plow into the crowd?
