Senator Writes to KRA Seeking a Tax Audit on Kenyatta Family Business Deals

Nyandarua Senator John Methu has written to Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) seeking a tax audit on former president Uhuru Kenyatta’s family business deals.

The first-time senator wrote the letter on behalf of the Peoples’ Representatives from Nyandarua, Nyeri, Kirinyanga and Kiambu counties.

He claims the Kenyatta family businesses have subverted the constitutional social goals by denying the public revenue by nonpayment of taxes to KRA.

“In promoting social justice, the Constitution under Article 201 outlines different principles to be applied in public finance. One such principle touches on tax and is to be found in Article 201 (b)(i) which states that the tax burden in Kenya shall be shared fairly,” read the letter in part.

“...no individual or company should subvert the societal goals and deny the public, the revenue required to meet different obligations to their realize the socio-economic rights guaranteed by the Constitution.”

Methu cited the 2019 merger of the Kenyatta family-owned Commercial Bank Africa Limited (CBA) and NIC Group (NIC) to form NCBA as well as Brookside Dairy Limited, ENKE Investments Ltd and the buying of the 5G- specific spectrum license.

“This country is governed by the rule of law and not jungle law where some animals are more equal than the others in respect of payment of taxes as stated above,” Methu adds in the letter.

In a separate letter to the Communications Authority, Methu requested the agency to make public documents relating to tendering process and subsequent payment of the 5G license to Safaricom Plc in April 2021.

“It is quite baffling that the process leading to the issuance and the subsequent payment of the spectrum to Safaricom Plc remains unknown to the members of the public up to date,” the letter reads.

It adds: “In the spirit of fighting corruption in the country, the Authority’s response will indeed exonerate it from the above allegations and demonstrate it followed the due process in issuing of the 5G spectrum internet to Safaricom Plc.”

Asante sana Ndugu Uhuru Ngina Kamau (a.k.a. Kenyatta) kwa kuwaonya watu wa Kenya kabla ya uchaguzi wa mwaka uliopita kutompigia kura Ndugu Samoei.

Wote waliompigia kura sasa, watakiona "Cha mtema kuni."

I hope this senator will also request all the audits of those who have been let free from their corruption cases by the current administration as well as Ruto’s. What happened to the money laundering case bb IP that the current president was involved in? On the issue of taxes, you cannot pick and choose. You need fairness.

The Kalenjin ngombes think people are stupid just like them. Senator CHerogoito should first worry about everything ruto has stolen and how that money should be taxed. These fools are really making a mockery of our country.

This Ndori Ndori idiot called Methu should really grow up. His mother used to be a prostitute when she conceived him. And no wonder he is a retard. Is this the Senator who resembles a black monkey?? Please stop the nonsense Methu.

"Please, be respectful! It is Musyoka’s business and taste on the size he decided to marry! He is not like @maxiley who runs around with some short legged Mexican chiwawa whose legs are planted deep inside the huge belly. Are you still talking …….??????"
That was @Wesley's response to my wondering why the Kenyan guy married to a mzungu was smiling or grimacing. Apparently he has the monopoly to insult others, while standing on his lofty high moral ground.Others might say he is under the influence of mind bending drugs.Whatever the case,he needs some self reflection, and learn to attack aperson's idea,or comment.
As they say, the capacity to learn is a gift, the ablility to learn is a skill, and the willingness to learn is a choice. @ Wesley seems to miss them all...

Mtoto wa nyoka ni nyoka! Exactly that is what @Wesley is saying if you can read between the lines. Actually this evil Senator looks like a premature kid birthed by Satan.

KRA does not have a PIN under "Uhuru Kenyatta Family". If the Senator is serious he should be more specific on his request. Otherwise, its just hot air.

It is both illegal and immoral for any citizen to evade taxes. Considering the humongous amount of wealth these former presidents "harvested" from just being presidents of a population of poor, and hopelessly hungry citizens, yet nothing was done to uplift them.. Shame, shame!
And bure kabisa.
