Gachagua: I Would Be Languishing in Kamiti Prison If We Did Not Win 2022 Election

Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua says he would be languishing in jail if the Kenya Kwanza coalition did not win the 2022 presidential election.

Speaking in Mathira, Nyeri County on Friday, the deputy president recalled the period before the August 9th, 2022 election, claiming that his opponents orchestrated a scheme to have him incarcerated.

“If it were not for your votes, I would not have become the deputy president. I would have been in Kamiti cooling the porridge, it would have been my fifth month as a convict. I am not sure if you would have paid me a visit,” he said.

Before his election, Gachagua was fighting a Sh7.3 billion graft case. Gachagua was accused of fraudulently receiving Sh7,330,011,265 through three bank accounts at Rafiki Micro-Finance Bank while knowing that the monies were proceeds of crime.

In November last year, the Anti-Corruption Court allowed the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) to withdraw the case on grounds that the evidence did not meet the threshold required to mount a successful trial.

This came after lead DCI investigator Kuriah Obadiah filed an affidavit claiming that former DCI director George Kinoti forced them to fabricate charges against Gachagua and his co-accused.

Kuria said they were given instructions and fixed timelines to speed up investigations against Gachagua, who was then the MP for Mathira Constituency, despite a lack of satisfactory evidence.

Before the conclusion of investigations, Kuriah alleged, Kinoti directed him and his team to make recommendations that would lead to the arrest and charging of Gachagua.

Gachagua had been charged with conspiracy to commit an offense of corruption, fraudulent acquisition of public property, money laundering, acquisition of proceeds of crime, and conflict of interest.

RIGATHI:

Truth Matters. Lies have consequences. You never won last year's election. If you did, why are you afraid of opening the servers and convince those of us who do not believe that you won. Why are you afraid of opening them?

It’s not for Gachagua or Ruto to open the servers. It’s the IEBC job to do so. Anyone who’s aggrieved can sort courts intervention. I remember the SC had already directed the servers opened and it was done.
And you don’t need the servers anyway. Every constituency has its final tally duly signed by all agents through forms 34s. Make a tally and you find the winners.

The mf is as guilty as sin. How come all these politicians were exonerated or had charges withdrawn right after Ruto win? Give us a break. Your time will come. Remember karma is a bitch. Also stop eating green staff. Get your teeth cleaned.

Exonerated for obvious reasons that the cases were all trumped up for political expediency. And even if there were genuine cases of wrongdoing, the cases were fumbled and couldn’t stand any due process.

Yes, getting presidency at all cost to overturn convictions, protect your looted proceeds and avoid prosecution. A new way to go! A good template from Trump who is fighting for presidency to protect himself from prosecution or delay and prolong investigations and convictions in his bucket full of legal issues! They all (worldwide) claim waliwekelewa. Way to stop this madness is mob justice…maandamano, kitaeleweka.

Kamiti. That’s where you belong. You stole from the counties and you never delivered. Nyeri people died when you stole their lab and X-ray machines. Your fellow thief let you off the hook. You guys know you are criminals only fit for Kamiti. We will get you there. Is that why you stole the election to avoid Kamiti. Now we know!
