President Ruto Appoints General Francis Ogolla as Chief of Defense Forces

President Ruto has promoted Lieutenant General Francis Omondi Ogolla to the rank of General and appointed him Chief of the Defense Forces.

Ogolla, who until Friday served as the Vice Chief of the Defense Forces, takes over from General Robert Kariuki Kibochi whose tenure has come to an end, having served in the military for 44 years.

In the new military changes announced by the Ministry of Defense on Friday, Ruto named Lt-Gen Jonah Mwangi as the Vice Chief of Defense Forces succeeding Gen Ogolla.

Maj-Gen Said Farah replaces Lt-Gen Mwangi as the Vice-chancellor of the National Defense University.

Brigadier David Kipkemboi Keter was promoted to Major General and appointed Assistant Chief of the Defense Forces Personnel and Logistics (ACDF P&L).

The president also promoted Brigadier Stephen James Mutuku to Major General and appointed him as Senior Directing Staff (Army) at the National Defense College.

Brigadier John Maison Nkoimo was elevated to Major General rank and has been appointed Commandant Joint Command Staff College (JCSC).

Brigadier Abdulkadir Mohammed Burje rises to Major General and takes up a new posting as Director Military Intelligence (DMI), while Brigadier Paul Owuor Otieno – also now a Major General.

The General should watch his back at all times because he should not trust Ruto! Again Ruto was scared to jump the next chief of staff not to have a mass fallout in the military. He still wants to set the current general for a failure so he can install a Kalenjin in that office!
