Raila 10 Million Signature Drive an Exercise in Futility, Says Musalia Mudavadi

Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi has urged Kenyans not to fall prey to Azimio's false information pegged on malicious reasons.

Mudavadi was speaking at the burial of his nephew Ian Diru in Ikolomani, Kakamega County, on Sunday. He asked Kenyans to disregard any propaganda from the Azimio coalition. He commended former President Uhuru Kenyatta's acceptance of William Ruto's victory in last year's elections, as well as his travels to other African countries to spread the message of peace that he desires to see in Kenya. He told opposition leader Raila Odinga to brace for another defeat if he runs for president in 2027.

“If someone tells you that they are collecting 10 million signatures to present to a parallel Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission to remove the Kenya Kwanza administration, ask yourself if it is consistent with the law. There is a constitutional procedure to impeach the President and collecting signatures is not part of it. This is just playing with people’s minds.” Mudavadi said.

Mudavadi rallied residents in the Western region to support the Kenya Kwanza administration, asserting that Ruto's political supremacy has become more evident following his win in the 2022 elections. He concluded by imploring the Azimio brigade to discontinue the propaganda that Ruto's government is illegitimate. He reminded them that when Uhuru, the chairman of Azimio, handed over the instruments of power to Ruto, it made it clear that Mr Ruto had won the August 9th 2022 presidential race.

On Friday, Raila Odinga voiced his plan to acquire ten million signatures to oust President William Ruto from the house on the hill. However, Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua termed the move a fruitless endeavour, asserting that elections are not determined by signatures. He continued that, similar to Raila's past failure, the 'Saba Saba' demonstrations would not be successful.
