The engagement which took place on Tuesday marks Kuria's entrance into his new role following the cabinet's reconstitution. The four-hour discourse between Kuria and Ndii is characterized as both productive and optimistic. Kuria, who previously served as Public Service Cabinet Secretary, has shared insights into their discussions, emphasizing the critical shift from the conceptual phase to the implementation stage of the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation agenda. He underscores the potential for accelerated economic growth, stating that with proper execution, double-digit growth could be achievable in the near future.
"The design phase of the Bottom Up Economic Transformation is over. The challenge now is to accelerate taking the product to the market. With proper execution, there is no reason why we should not achieve double-digit growth in the near term," Kuria said.
The Bottom-Up Economic Transformation agenda is a cornerstone of President Ruto's administration that aims to address economic disparities and foster inclusive growth. The strategy focuses on empowering lower-income segments of society by creating opportunities for small and medium-sized enterprises and enhancing access to financial services. David Ndii, a renowned economist and key architect of this economic agenda, has played an instrumental role in shaping the economic policies of President Ruto's administration. The collaboration between Ndii and Kuria is expected to bring fresh perspectives and innovative solutions to Kenya's economic challenges.
During their meeting, Kuria and Ndii explored various aspects of the economic transformation strategy, including fiscal policies, investment incentives, and infrastructure development. They also discussed ways to enhance public-private partnerships to stimulate economic growth. Kuria emphasizes the need for a coordinated approach to ensure the successful implementation of the economic agenda. The Bottom-Up Economic Transformation agenda has garnered significant attention and support from various stakeholders, including business leaders, economists, and development partners. By focusing on grassroots development, the agenda seeks to uplift marginalized communities and promote sustainable economic growth.
