ODM Sets New Date for Nationwide Grassroots Elections

The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party has announced its rescheduled grassroots elections, set to take place on November 27, 2024, across polling units in all 47 counties.

This announcement comes from the National Elections Coordinating Committee (NECC) following a previous postponement caused by severe flooding in April. The NECC, operating under Article 61 of the Party Constitution, maintains oversight of the party's electoral processes. The upcoming elections will facilitate the selection of leaders across three primary committees: the Mainstream, Women League, and Youth League. Within the Mainstream category, participants will elect officials to various positions including Chairperson, Vice Chairperson, Secretary, Organizing Secretary, Treasurer, Women Leader, Youth Leader, and three Committee Members.

The Women and Youth League categories will each select their respective Chairperson, Secretary, Organizing Secretary, and three committee members. In its commitment to diversity and inclusion, the NECC has emphasized the integration of persons with disabilities and minorities throughout these electoral categories. The committee has established flexible voting procedures, allowing members to choose their representatives either through consensus or by show of hands during the designated voting period from 10 am to 4 pm. The electoral process will be facilitated by County Election Coordinators working in close collaboration with polling units to ensure seamless operations.
