The Barnabas area of Nakuru Town East is reeling from the tragic death of eight-year-old Maxwell Ndumia, who died protecting his younger brother from a violent assault. 

Maxwell Ndumia, known for his bravery and familial devotion, succumbed to injuries sustained while shielding his younger sibling, Maina, from an attacker. The incident occurred after Maxwell's 23-year-old sister, Teresa Muthoni, collected Maina from school. According to reports, Teresa had asked Maxwell to return home to change his clothes, but he went to the school where his younger sibling had been picked up.

Witnesses report that an unidentified assailant targeted Maina, prompting Maxwell to intervene. In his attempt to protect his brother, Maxwell suffered a deep and fatal neck wound. Teresa Muthoni, present at the scene, immediately alerted their father. He arrived to find his son had died. Community members swiftly responded to the attack. Neighbours followed a trail of blood to discover Maina severely injured. 

He was rushed to a local hospital. His immediate medical care is credited with preventing further loss of life. The Nakuru community is mourning Maxwell's death. Residents describe him as a respectful and beloved child whose selfless act has left an indelible mark.
