Police Dismantle Drug Ring at Remote Farm in Kwale

Police have dismantled a suspected drug manufacturing operation at a remote farm in Kwale County.

The raid, conducted by the Anti-Narcotics Unit following a tip-off, took place on a one-acre property in Mwabungo, near Diani, an area increasingly popular with real estate investors but now under scrutiny for potentially harbouring criminal activities. During the operation, officers discovered laboratory equipment, chemical substances used in drug production, packaging materials, and an electric drying machine believed to be used for processing cannabis.

Authorities also seized assorted seeds, drug-labelled stickers, and handwritten formulas thought to detail narcotics preparation, alongside contact lists that may link to suppliers or distributors. Two individuals were arrested at the scene: Gianardi Giulio, an Italian national reportedly familiar with the area, and Moses Nanoka Egadwa, a Kenyan citizen.

Coast Regional Police Commander Ali Nuno has confirmed that the investigation is ongoing and may extend beyond drug trafficking. Authorities have urged local residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity, assuring them that all information will be treated confidentially.

"The illegal drugs trade could be connected with money laundering and, by extension, terror organisations," he said.
