Police in Eldoret, Uasin Gishu County have launched investigations into the murder of LGBTQ activist and model Edwin Chiloba.
Chiloba’s body was found stuffed inside a metallic box that was dumped along Kipkenyo-Kaptinga Road in Uasin Gishu County.
The remains were discovered after boda boda operators plying the route reported seeing a suspicious-looking vehicle that dumped the metal box along the road.
Eyewitnesses said the vehicle's license plates had been concealed.
When police arrived at the scene, they opened the box only to discover a man’s lifeless and decomposing body, which was clad in women's clothing.
The body has since been moved to the Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital pending postmortem to establish the cause of his death.
A few months ago, Chiloba sustained serious injuries on the face after he was attacked by unknown assailants in public.
Chiloba was a well-known fashion designer and model in Eldoret, and was the reigning Mister University of Eldoret.
In an Instagram post last month, Chiloba vowed to continue fighting for marginalized people and promote inclusivity.
“My movement is for everyone. It’s about inclusion. And if I am going to fight what I have been marginalized for, I am going to fight for all marginalized people,” he said.

Reading your comments about the departed often leave me wondering if all is well with you
@ Myina wa Raila, I have concluded that this fellow is bitter with humanity for some reason.Nothing positive ever comes from his mouth. Even if he has to criticize someone he does not know,he at lease he should use some finesse,or show some respect.Bottom line, he is a coward.
@ PPPian. You think it is nonsense. I went to a boys boarding school in the 90s and gay guys were everywhere in our school - and i know other boarding schools were similar. Its typical Kenyan habit to bury our head in the sand and pretend this so called 'nonsense' does not exist in our society. Personally, i think whoever one chooses to love and sleep with is a private matter and should be respected by everybody.
He didn’t have to die like this but I goes to tell you Kenya is not ready for this. Can we agree to disagree without killing each other.
Alleged terminator is his trans zombie bf.. not religious or political persecution. Life expectancy of the species is under 45.
As of now, nobody has convincingly linked his death to his "My movement",or his lifestyle. But should it turn out that there is a connection,I would still considering it not a reason for killing him.
This is just barbaric. If we start killing, and hating people based on perceived fear, because we are the majority, what will happen when we become minority like them?
A gay who pays taxes, earns his/her living legally, and ethically, abides by the laws of the land, and generally is a positively contributing member of his society is more"worthy" than a heterosexual does the opposite.
Once again I ask, if homosexuality is achoice, who in his or her right mind would chose it,considering the deadly out come?
Finally, could someone tell me exactly what they fear from homosexuals? Studies bear out that in every known human society, there has always existed about 10% of homosexuals.Interestingly that goes in to all animal kingdoms as well.So let us live and let live.My two cents.
Sad indeed. Kenya is not yet ready to accept 🏳️🌈👩❤️💋👩👬 LGBTQ
Kenya doesn't need homosexuality. This boy was destroyed by his/her wazungu sponsors, who apparently are heterosexual as displayed all over in the media. Eti ndio aonekane ni shujaa. Bure kabisa!
If a gay does not bother you.He is a model citizen save for his sexual preference which is private, how does that affect you ? Remember there are homosexuals in every country. Some are doctors, pilots, scientists, teachers, very productive. Some more that heterosexuals@ Mteja.Dont you think you are re-activing from your prejudice?
The name Chiloba is Nigerian. So why are Nigerians bringing their Nonsense to Kenya? Good RIDDANCE Chiloba; Good riddance you Sodoman!!!
