Kenyans React to Kiambu Governor Ferdinand Waititu's Masters Degree

Kenyans on social media have reacted to the news that Kiambu Governor Ferdinand Waititu acquired a Masters degree from Kenya Methodist University (KeMU) on Saturday.

The newly elected county boss graduated with a Masters degree in Business Administration during Kemu's 17th Graduation ceremony held at the university's main campus in Meru on Saturday.

Most Kenyans online expressed their shock after the news emerged, considering that Waititu's bachelor's degree from Punjab University has in the past attracted claims of being a fake one.

Former Kiambu governor William Kabogo had early this year taken seeking to have him barred from contesting for any public office on grounds of being in possession of fake academic credentials, but the court quashed the application.

"Ferdinand Ndung'u Waititu, whose birth was registered on January 4, 1980, cannot be the same person as Clifford who sat CPE at Mbagathi Primary in 1975.

"It is, therefore, a fact that for 51 years of his life, he has never changed his name and has always been known by the same name in all his interactions and transactions," Kabogo had told the court.

Here are some of the reactions by Kenyans online on Waititu's new academic achievement:

Yusuf Ahmed said: "Since I was one of his project supervisor, i can briefly say the student was very brilliant. I urge him to enrol for PhD immediately."

Kenvix Otieno notes: "This KEMU must be investigated on the quality of education it offers! MIKE SONKO enrolled as a first year in 2013 but graduated in 2015 with bachelors degree. I only remember Sonko going to class twice where by The media accompanied him during lectures. Now we have Waititu."

Willian Chacha Wcs: "There must be someone who wrote for him '' Thesis ", huyu msee atar hajui kuongea English poa ako na masters aje, inaitwa Kenya.."

Kevyne Kenn Oduori said: "Our education system has been compromised to the same level of us fighting corruption...!!! someone can't read even a novel let a lone composing a paraghraph and he has Masters...!! then a gain the certificates he's using doesn't belong to him. for crying out loud KeMu, MKU ,and all other mediocre universities that come to being durring Kibaki's tenure be striped off there status if Kenya is to grow."

Ambrose Ouma said: "KEMU is a bogus institution that should be shut down, imagine Sonko and Margaret wanjiru are alumni of the same."

Shasuvila Isaiah Wafula: "Hii ni kutufunika, say graduating in kidnaping, stone throwing, rigging, donkey meat suply and bang suplier.this guy can't even talk english jameni, this university needs to be investigated."

Kiok Julius Kisaka: "Kemu is the only institutions you graduate without your knowledge nor going to class as long as you have money to pay for it."

Esther Maina notes: "His Thesis should be published in the dailies for all to see, am not doubting neither am I believing."

Trinidad Sherry Kante: "Thumps up KEMU...your graduands can only prosper in POLITICS...in other fields they will be shunned completely."

It's better if these fake degrees belonging to the elite thugs were all investigated.Independent investigators should probe how wauuaji Raila,Joho,Kabogo, majambazi IG Boinnet,Ngilu,Waititu,Kingi,Pasaris,Samoja,Sonko etc bought their degrees. They should also investigate how candidates have in the past twenty five years been attaining 90% "As" in std 8 and form 4 exams in a few choosen schools until last year when Matiangi and Moghoha stepped in to stop the false believe that the children are bright by setting the whole examination from what the students had illegally bought.

Leave Waititu alone. As long as he is not teaching in any school or college, he should be left alone!

Where is Matiang'i? He should be looking into colleges !that sell fake degrees to those insecure Kenyans who think that a college degree means everything in life.

Look at the the former British prime minister John Major, he did not have a college degree but that did not stop him from being elected the prime minister of the U.K and the Leader of the Conservative Party from 1990 to 1997!

Politicians belong to the few professional areas where a college degree is not needed or necessary.

I don't think it is important for the politicians to have degrees to serve "wanjiku". We have had many politicians like Orengo who is learned but behaves thuggish, uses his brains to run down a country by representing crooks. What we need though is open accounts to show how trustworthy and financially accountable they are. They should declare their wealth.. and by the way we have that in the Constitution but somehow corrupt pple end up in high places like Raila, Kalonzo, abused Weta, joho etc.
