Retired President Daniel Arap Moi has sent a congratulatory message to President Uhuru Kenyatta on his re-election.
Moi's applaud to President Uhuru comes after Monday's Supreme Court decision that upheld his victory in the October 26th repeat presidential election.
In his message, Moi expresses confidence in the president's ability to unite the country following a lengthy and divisive electioneering period.
The second Kenyan President further calls on the opposition to respect democracy and work with the government to develop the country.
Moi's message comes after President Uhuru visited him at his Karabak home in Nakuru last weekend for a private meeting.
He also asked the President to commit more time to bringing together Kenyans, noting that unity as a catalyst of development in any nation. "Having served in the position that you hold today, I know the huge task that you are about to face in your second term as you try to unite the country against a backdrop of deep political and ethnic divisions," Moi said.
He added; "I am however confident that in your wisdom, your Excellency will soon embark on a policy path that will unite Kenyans by ensuring that everybody feels part and parcel of project Kenya."
Moi said Uhuru has the ability to bring the country "back to its feet, rebuild the economy and restore institutions."
To the opposition, Moi said: "I, therefore, urge them to have the courage to accept your (Uhuru) call for unity and work with you in finding sustainable solutions and advocating for reforms that bolster inclusive institutions that address long-standing societal grievances in the spirit of brotherhood."

Moi, we need you back to tame a lose demon called Raila. Uhuru is unable to control it. It has grown horn since you left. We know you circumcised and castrated it but it appear whoever did it did a half baked job. This demon is back with seven horns.
Usihau mwanangu Gideon anangojea hiyo kiti ji sort na umalizane na huyo deputy wako damu yangu mbele ya urafiki wenyu.
You can tell by the body language who the real president is.....
Moi should keep his mouth shut.He rule Kenya for twenty five years by rigging elections all the time.Ee went back instead of moving ahead and he als o commuted slot of injustices to Kenyans she should tell us who killed Robert Ouko he should thank God that he is not in jail
President Kibaki's governmemt and Uhuru's government needs to realise that partially its responsible for what the country has gone through. Why do I say that? This two governments have been babysitting Raila for a couple of years. First, when Raila cried rigging with President Kibaki's government, Kibaki should not have agreed to anything else other than going to the ballot a second time. It would have cost the country, but the power demon in Raila would have been tamed. Instead, Kibaki's government allowed our constitution to be amended to accommodate one individual, Raila. Raila cried in front of cameras and he called on international community to help change our constitution by creating a Prime Minster's position that was non existent. Nusu mkate was born and served. From there Raila knew if he wants something in Kenya all he has to do is have tantrums and call on the international community for help ( to intervene). Uhuru's government and the media built on what Kibaki started. Since Raila leaving the Prime Minister position, the government allowed him to tell lie after lie without being challenged to provide evidence. Every important person that dies, he accusses Jubilee and when the truth comes out, that issue is never revisited. He is never asked to prove. The media reports and publishes anything Raila says without asking him for prove. Laws regarding the media need to be passed. Give the media freedom of speech but should they should publish what they know is true and the can prove and provide source. Where the media cannot prove, they should be penalized. When Raila accused IEBC, he was allowed to throw out the first IEBC without following the constitution. To him, the constitution does not have to be followed. He throws tantrums, he is appeased. Now, its time to let him throw tantrums with no appeasement. If you appease him this time, Kenya has no constitution. Anyone who looses will have tantrums and call international community to intervene. We might as well make an amendment to our constitution in case of tantrums. The other error that Jubilee made during the last 5 years is to allow Raila to keep campaigning when its not campaign time. Kenya should amend the constitution so that political campaigns have a starting time and an ending time with exceptions due to death or someone being incapacitated. Raila has been a perpetual campaigner for the last five years. He was allowed to bold saba saba, and other if his creations thereby keeping the country in a campaign mode for ever. No wonder now he can't accept he is defeated because his career is that of a Professional Campaigner. Elections should come and go. In between, if you are defeated you go back to your career until the next campaign season. Once, this election is done, no one should be allowed to campaign. Not even Jubilee. Let us amend the constitution only in a way that it will be good not just for this generation but for future generations too.
One other question to ask ourselves as a country is: Why is the President's post so appealing? We should put checks and balances to political positions such that we will not care who becomes the president because he will not have excessive powers. Even all other political positions should be the save. No excessive allowances or powers. Just a thought
Well thought out ideas. Raila is incompetent and can't be an opposition leader cos he does not have an agenda for the country. His only goal is to be the president by all means possible. I also don't get why Uhuru has to warm up to Moi cos it's under his(Moi) dictatorial, corrupt rule Kenyan economic refugees aka diaspora expanded tremendously. Please lets not forget this fact. Second Moi really should just die period and leave Kenya alone.
Moi .Kenyatta, Raila. Who is good. Surely kenyans we are damn if we continue supporting these idiots. we are stuck thutha ta mutongoe. I do not support any of them. Tukwenda andu eru to imundu ici cionaga o kwao. Ndionaga kindu kiega gwa kinyatta onaokoruo njaragia gikuyu take. Othe gutiri ugiragia ngethe kana undehagira gia kuriha rent nigu thiage ngimuganaga ati ni baba ama wagwitu. But that my opinion. Also I do not support Dual citizens getting government high stake jobs in Kenya. Look at the IEBEC ngombe getting a job the running away then ignite a fire atleast it did not explode. Dual citizen means one leg in and the other out. A full foreighner is worth more that a dual or a fake Foreighner (Born and raised in kenya and naturalised somewhere else after denying kenya) who returns and seeks a big job because you are a PHD.
What message does moi have for Raila?
Jubilee supporters should move on without the rest of us.
Accept our decision.
I support anyone who overthrows this Uhuru Kenyatta government.
Jubilee will Never be my government Uhuru Kenyatta is not my President.
