Kenyan National Nancy Asiko Onyango Lands Top Job at the IMF

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has named a Kenyan as the new head of its internal audit department.

Nancy Asiko Onyango was appointed as the new director of IMF's Office of Internal Audit and Inspection (OIA) to replace Clare Brady, after Clare's four-year tenure comes to end. Asiko will assume office in February 2018.

Announcing her appointment on Monday, the Washington-based world body managing director Christine Lagarde exuded confidence in Asiko's capability to head the crucial docket at the global body.

“Ms Onyango brings to the Fund more than 25 years of experience in internal audit, strategic risk management, corporate governance and IT risk management,” Ms Lagarde said in a statement.

“In addition to her extensive assurance and corporate governance experience, Nancy is passionate about empowering women and girls, notably in harnessing their leadership potential. I have full confidence that the OIA will continue to thrive under Nancy’s leadership,” she added.

Clare is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and has a PhD degree in Business Administration from the United States International University — Africa (USIU) in Nairobi. Currently, Asiko sits on the boards of KCB Bank Group and Cytonn Investments.

of all other tribes, why a luo? arent there enough kambas, kyuks, luyhas etc who can do the same job ? there should be regional balance in all appointments.
