President Kenyatta to Make Major Reshuffle in Government

President Kenyatta is reportedly set to make a major reorganization in his government in the coming weeks.

The changes will involve top government officials including a reshuffle in the Cabinet where up to six Cabinet Secretaries and several Principal Secretaries will be affected, the Standard reports.

Jubilee Party vice chairperson David Murathe, a close ally of President Kenyatta, has confirmed a major overhaul in government is underway.

“I can assure you the President is going to be ruthless,” The Standard quotes Murathe.

The reshuffle is said to be part of ongoing efforts by President Kenyatta in the fight against corruption and to help secure his legacy ahead of the expiry of his final term in 2022.

In his Jamhuri Day speech at Nyayo Stadium last week, President Kenyatta vowed to stamp out corruption in government, warning that no one will be spared.

“All arms of Government must work together to ensure our nation gets rid of this menace. To those engaging in fraud and abuse of office, please listen to me keenly, you can run but you cannot hide,” said President Kenyatta.

Mr. President your legacy, the health of our democracy and economy are all under threat from the deep rooted corruption fueled by a bloated government, friendships, political alliances, identity politics, hero worship, families and friends of friends, political appointees, inept civil services, nepotism, dynasties, loyalists etc-and so a radical surgery is needed. Baba has given you the hand of friendship and while the goodwill lasts, this is the time to edge your name on the rock of history in our country and beyond. The dragon of corruption and impunity has killed our children's future, our land, our resources, our hope, our today and worse still threatens our tomorrow.
We are only this way once Mr. President, all the good you can do, do it now (not for legacy, political parties, friendships, families, politics of dynasties, tribes, alliances, etc) but for the sake of human decency and love of this nation. Even if it means shelving some of the developments so be it, that the nation my heal from the ravaging corruption.
The common man cannot work effectively, business, industry and government agencies cannot perform, your officials and elected officials cannot function, your CS cannot deliver because we all have been held ransom by the dragon. Corruption threatens everything from individual liberties to national security.
No development agenda can reverse corruption, no education can reverse corruption, no economy can reverse corruption (as my folks would say "it has no reverse gear"). A swift social anti-corruption movement that mobilizes all citizens, synchronized three arms of government, security agencies, business community, professional bodies, a relentless media, clergy and all-hands-on-the-deck and no-nonsense from the 3 top leaders will be required to severe the many ugly heads of corruption (impunity, graft, greed, ineptitude, etc).
Only a leader enjoying the support you currently enjoy sir, can put his foot down and have a country rally behind him to bring about dignified change for a lasting impact.
Instead of reshuffle (which will be largely cosmetic) do a major shake-up; so strong that the shock and aftershocks will be felt for a long time by even the chicken thieves in the villages and pickpockets in the streets. That would be a priceless Christmas gift, so that come January a new year with a new team. And finally, I beg that you do not put new wine in old wine skins.

Use a version of LIFO method. The ones with the Latest scandal are the First Out. You got the power to appoint and to dis-appoint so do not spare anyone on the basis of race, place of origin, tribe, religion, gender, special needs nor political affiliation. This is because we have many qualified people from each of those represented groups of our population-just look harder.

Mr. President, please do not announce an impeding action..just do it. Say later after the facts as saying ahead of time is warning the cartels that you are on the way coming. Who wouldn't run away after hearing of a threat?

Mr President, there is something very cheap lacking in the Kenya that you govern today. That is "Sincere Love" for the country. This will not cost you a whole lot but if you preach it, it's priceless. Corruption will not end, not with any laws no matter how strict. Preach Love for the country in schools, in churches, in farms, in companies, among your soldiers on the streets and Kenyans abroad. That will reduce corruption by huge percentage. Love for the country! If every citizen loves their country and love who they are and loves their family, most of our problems will be solved. Let that be your legacy-love for the country and its people. God give Kenya leaders not politicians. God help Kenya!!!
