President Kenyatta, DP Ruto Quell Rumors of Possible Fallout with Lunch Date in Mombasa

President Kenyatta and Deputy President William Ruto have appeared to quell fears of possible fallout between them.
Kenyatta and Ruto have on Wednesday taken lunch together at Barka Restaurant in Old Town, Mombasa.
The lunch date comes barely a day after President Kenyatta through an Executive Order number one of 2019, appointed Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i as the Chairperson of the National Development Implementation and Communication Cabinet Committee.
The committee, which is made up of all Cabinet Secretaries, will oversee and coordinate the implementation of all government projects.
The move means Matiang'i will be supervising all state projects including the ambitious President Uhuru's big four action plan.
However, political commentators and a section of Kenyans online were quick to point out that in handing Matiang'i the powerful role, Kenyatta deliberately trimmed down responsibilities and powers from Ruto.
Many argue that Ruto, by virtue of being the President's principal assistant, should have been given the role.
Ruto, who describes himself as Kenyatta's " mtu wa mkono", has been traversing the country to launch and supervise development projects on behalf of the President.

Uhuru your new and bold plan…

Uhuru your new and bold plan to limit arap Mangamanga powers as well as those of your cabinet secretaries(some) is quite commendable. This move stretchs to the county level where we have pointmen to see big four projects through. Good move. If possible please fire all those CS whose work is being done by Matiang'i and give the guy the money. Arap Mangamanga no longer has astronomical amounts of money coming his way but you can best believe he has amassed enough already to keep the church projects going every Sunday though I doubt for how long. If Matiang'i is doing the jobs of several Cabinet Secretaries (CS), it goes to show we need maybe 10 CS in the country.

We fail to understand a role of an administrator. Matiang'i will succeed if he pushes and hold accountable the people behind the projects. His job will be to oversee and not do any work but to report what has already been done through the other CS's. As much as his role could seem huge and broad and too big for a single person, actually it's perfect. Uhuru is smart for putting Matiang in charge because of his reputation. For those who have read the story of Daniel in the scriptures. Daniel was an administrator with a few other governors but because he showed some exemplified abilities he was put in charge of the entire Kingdom.
