Doctors at Kenyatta National Hospital Successfully Re-attach Boy's Severed Manhood

A 16-year-old Kenyan boy whose manhood was chopped off with a kitchen knife has had the body part reattached at the Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH).

Speaking during a media briefing at the facility on Wednesday, Stanley Khainga, who led a team of doctors in carrying out the procedure, says the boy was referred to KNH from a county hospital after he was violently mutilated.

Khainga says the successful operation was done eight hours after the boy's manhood was severed using a kitchen knife.

“He was a referral from one of the county hospitals with a history of assault by unknown persons on December 18th at about 1 am in the night. The penis was amputated at its base using a kitchen knife. The patient arrived at KNH at about 9 am and his case was reviewed immediately by the plastic surgery and urology teams,” Dr. Khainga notes.

The surgeon says the young man has regained full use of the organ following the surgery and can now be able to urinate and reproduce.

“The patient should be able to urinate… the patient should be able to reproduce and have a self-improved image.”

He has urged Kenyans to rush victims to the hospital immediately such incidences happen to ensure they get the required treatment.
