Kenyan Akorino Model Pesh Regrets Issuing Apology over Her Viral Bikini Photo

Popular Kenyan Akorino model Peris Wanjiku alias Pesh now says she regrets issuing an apology over a viral photo of her wearing a swimming costume.

The social media celebrity apologized after a section of her online followers attacked her for posing in a bikini.

In a post, the 21-year-old apologized over the “inappropriate” photo, saying that she never knew it would offend some people (READ: Kenyan Akorino Model Pesh Apologizes after Photos in Swimming Suit Cause Stir).

“I would like to apologize to anyone who might have been offended by any images posted on my social media pages. I believe that people can express themselves in very many ways and still have their morals intact,” says Ms. Wanjiku in a tweet.

In a phone interview with a local entertainment website, the model says she regrets issuing a public apology over the picture.

“I regret sending out that apology because I hadn’t done anything morally or legally wrong,” Ms. Wanjiku told e-Daily.

She says a section of her church members felt that the photo was indecent.

“They thought I was being indecent. Their subsequent attacks directed at me pushed me into issuing a public apology. I hadn’t thought through the whole issue at the time,” says Pesh.

She has also dismissed the belief that members of the Akorino faith shouldn’t expose parts of their bodies while swimming.

“It is not wrong [for Akorino faithful] to go swimming. It is also not against the Akorino practice to wear a swimsuit. There is a section of Akorino followers, who did not find offense in what I did. [If anything], there was nothing indecent about the picture; my morals remain intact,” she says.

The photo was taken in a swimming pool in Naivasha, where she had gone on a vacation courtesy of Bonfire Adventures.

Peris is one of the few youthful female Akorino who have embraced modeling and confidently shares on social media photos of herself posing in different modern outfits.

Peris live your life. Wakorino are not prohibited from swimming. You cannot swim in a long skirt or dress. Let them talk.

The brand you have created is unique but sensitive. So you need good PR mentor to succeed in the long run; otherwise either side(religious patrons or industry)can rush you out of your talent and cost you the potential success. Do what you do best and leave the PR to professionals.

Free yourself from mental slavery my sister. Life's too short to please everybody. Just do you and be true to yourself. Haters will hate regardless of what you do.
