Why Kenyan Man Who Filmed Himself Sexually Assaulting Girl May Walk Scot-Free

Patrick Ayoyi Ajunga, the man who videotaped himself sexually assaulting a girl who appeared to be a minor may walk scot-free, according to police.

The man was arrested over the weekend at his house in Nyagacho estate, Kericho County after the video emerged and went viral on social media.

On Tuesday, Kericho County police commander Silas Gichunge said detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) Child Protection Unit were trying to establish whether the girl was a minor at the time of the incident.

Gichunge, however, pointed out that preliminary investigations showed the video was recorded in 2017 when the girl’s age was roughly 20 years. He added that if this is confirmed, the man would not be charged unless the girl launches a formal complaint that she was defiled.

Gichunge said detectives have visited Kipkelion Girls High School where the girl was schooling for further information regarding her age.
