Aden Duale Accused of Donating Expired Foodstuff to Children’s Home

Garissa Township MP Aden Duale has been accused of donating expired food items to a children's home in his constituency.

Duale, who is also the Leader of Majority in the National Assembly, was on Wednesday reportedly summoned by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) for questioning over the matter, Daily Nation reported on Thursday.

He was allegedly directed to appear before assistant Inspector-General of Police Benedict Oyaro to shed light on the matter after residents complained that he distributed expired foodstuff to the orphanage.

“I do hereby require Aden Duale to personally appear before Mr. Benedict Oyaro an assistant inspector general of police investigating the alleged offense on 19 February at 10.00 am at DCI headquarters Nairobi,” a letter seen by Daily Nation read.

The publication established that on Monday, February 17th, Duale visited Najah Children’s Home in Bulla Iftin, Garissa, where he donated the food items.

“He (Mr. Duale) visited the orphanage on Monday. When we opened the food sacks we saw some black substance that raised concern amongst us. It is then that we learned that the food had already spoiled meaning it was expired,” a source who works at the orphanage said.

Mohammed Noor, the manager of the orphanage said Duale delivered rice, flour, maize, and other foodstuffs. He also confirmed that some cartons of food were found to be spoilt and were destroyed at the children’s home.

Police officers and officials from public health, Kebs, and Kenya Revenue Authority are said to have raided Duale’s CDF office after the revelation.

When contacted for comment, Duale refuted reports that he had been summoned by DCI, terming the allegations about the spoilt donations as “propaganda”.

“The whole thing is fake, including the letter. You can go to Garissa and see for yourself. I talked to the DCI himself and he said there is nothing,” Duale told Daily Nation.

They get millions but give out rotten food? Did he want the orphans to get food poisoning and probably die? May be he’s tired of them.

Duale calls the outdated food donations a “ propaganda”! A term these fake politicians use when they get caught doing the wrong things!

Even DP Ruto says the shs 40 billion arms scam signed in his office is a “propaganda” after his proxie Echase got caught!
