German President Steinmeier to Visit Kenya

German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier is set to make a State visit to Kenya, State House has announced.

Steinmeier will land in Nairobi on Sunday ahead of scheduled talks with President Kenyatta on Monday, State House Spokesperson Kanze Dena said in a statement on Saturday.

He will first hold a private meeting with Kenyatta at State House before the two lead delegations from their countries in bilateral discussions.

“His Excellency President Uhuru Kenyatta will formally receive the visiting German Head of State at State House, Nairobi,” the statement read.

“After State Reception ceremonies, the two leaders will proceed for private talks before leading their respective delegations for bilateral discussions.”

Germany is one of Kenya’s key partners especially in green energy, health, promotion of human rights, education among others. The relationship between the two nations dates back to 1961.

Steinmeier’s tour comes three years after President Uhuru made a similar visit to Germany, where partnerships in areas of trade and investment, tourism, education, culture, and security were discussed.

Kenyatta also held a meeting with various German investors and briefed them on the available investment opportunities in Kenya.
