Probe as Robbers Sneak into a Kiambu Church, Steal 500Kg Imported Bell

Police in Kiambu have opened a probe into the robbery of a Church bell weighing over 500 kilograms.

The huge bell made of copper was stolen from Virgin Mary Orthodox Church in Ngecha, Kiambu County last week.

Speaking to a local news outlet, the church organizing secretary-general James Warari said they are still trying to figure out how the robbers got access into the church and carried the heavy bell.

“We woke up in the morning and realized it was not there. It’s a heavy bell that weighs about half a tonne. One person cannot manage to lift or carry it, we suspect they were many thieves,” he said.

The official indicated that the stolen bell played an important role as it alerted church members of upcoming prayer sessions. Warari revealed that the church imported the bell from overseas headquarters.

“We urge anyone who comes across it to or report to us or any scrap metal dealer not to buy it, return it to us or any nearby chief office or sub-county offices in Limuru. The bell was imported, and we cannot find it locally. It was brought to us from the church headquarters,” he said.

“This is not the first time the thieves are targeting our church; the other day thieves stole alter wines and other valuable things. The youth should look for other avenues to make money not crime” Warari added.

We hope law works in this case.
However,we must remember that this are the same churches that destroyed our shrines and committed evil deeds to our ancestors using a gun on one hand and a bible on the other, forcefully establishing themselves in our communities.
They have run their course.
" you reap what you sow".
Their time to exit the scene is at hand.
It's time for revelation and restoration!! We will be patient!!

This is an opportunity for the church to adopt new technology. Download an app and use speakers to emulate the bell.
