Kenya Condemns Reports of Racist Treatment of Africans Fleeing Ukraine Conflict

Kenya has condemned reports of alleged discrimination against Africans trying to flee Ukraine in the wake of Russia’s invasion.

There have been reports that Africans fleeing the conflict in Ukraine were being treated in a racist and undignified manner at some border points, including being prevented from leaving.

Kenya’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations Amb. Martin Kimani said reports that racism has characterized the ongoing humanitarian response in the Russia-Ukraine conflict was disturbing.

“There are credible reports of African students being made to stand in the back of the queue when getting on trains and buses for safety,” Kimani said during the 11th UN General Assembly emergency session over the Ukraine situation on Tuesday.

“We wholeheartedly condemn such racism against Africans and people of African descent. We reject racism at all times and in all places for its inhumanity, at the very same time as we denounce the illegal and inhuman nature of the war in Ukraine,” he added.

The diplomat urged countries bordering Ukraine to take action against officials or units that may be reflecting attitudes and behaviors that are unacceptable.

The African Union (AU) also released a statement decrying reports that African citizens are being refused the right to cross borders to safety as they try to flee the conflict in Ukraine.

AU stated that all people have the right to cross international borders during conflict, and should enjoy the same rights to cross to safety, notwithstanding their nationality or racial identity.

"Reports that Africans are singled out for unacceptable dissimilar treatment would be shockingly racist and in breach of international law," AU Chair, Senegal's President Macky Sall, and Moussa Faki Mahamat head of AU Commission said in a joint statement.

Africans are not recognized anywhere in the world literally, including in their own motherland run by selfishly-self-centered and greedy leaders.
And we're here blindly supporting Ukraine! Not that I support Russia's action of attacking a now sovereign state, and not a Soviet state for this matter. Slavery in America is regarded as history to be read of by willing individuals. But try to disregard the holocaust. Ndio utajua hujui.

A huge percentage of Caucasians have ingrained hatred towards people of color no matter what they tell you. The hatred resides under a rock waiting for the right amount of oxygen to ignite. Get one of them who you thought was your friend very pissed off and you will see a different side you have never knew existed. Most will not fight a black person unless they are in a group but are skilled in using the system to exercise their "white privilege".

This was bound to happen.
But, I thought we had been warned way ahead of time. They chose not to leave.
They chose to ride the storm. So, why is it our issue now??
Ukraine has a duty to help their own before anyone else. How can try to put out your neighbors house fire, while yours is burning?
I UNDERSTAND when it comes to refugees,
Color, religion, sex, nationality doesn't play a role, but we had to UNDERSTAND that in the western world , BEING BLACK IS VIEWED SECOND CLASS.

Africans follow these big two religions because they were "forced upon"them by the invaders who were Arabs, and the whiteman. The biggest problem I have with followers of these religions is the failure to question the indignities, and inhuman treatment found their scriptures, other religious writings and stories/hadith.
Muhammud the Muslim prophet did so many horrible things that If i were a muslim I would be so ashamed and leave that religion as quickly as possible. Compared to Jesus. Jesus is a "saint".
The history of these two religions has never cast blacks in a favorable light.
To mitigate the shameful revelations in these two religions, the so called scholars are fond of dodging embarrassing questions by white washing them,or blaming others for misinterpretation.
It is unfortunate that the invaders destroyed our african religions, there by rendering any vestiges ineffective to be compared to their, thus making african religions appear "useless".And that's why many africans follow these two religions. They have no way of knowing how good the religions of their ancestors were, and just as effective in their own environment, just like wazungu's was effective in his own environment.Talk of brainwashing. It time our african scholars revived the quest for re establishing back our african religions.

We need to build our nation and make it globally attractive so that these white goons can come and we discriminate them in reverse. We have suffered enough already going back to the missionaries, colonialism, and as well as today. May be it is time to add a curriculum in African schools that will let our own understand that the white dude is just another figure with a different color and nothing more.

This is the reason we have to keep peace in the country and the whole of Africa. However much they smile at you, sleep with you, eat with you, they are all the same when push comes to shove. This is the reason we have to make sure divisive elements like Ruto, Gachagua and rude Tangatangalets are defeated.

There is an African mom who stayed 3 days no food with her children outside a hotel that would not accommodate a black person in Ukraine border . What is OAU doing? Verbal not enough send a delegate to complain demand action and pay the loss . Unless action is taken now it will be worse tomorrow folks. Rise up Africa.

Same guys who claimed to have discovered mt Kenya yet ole Lenana was sitting on its peak. Why is Lake Victoria still named after a dead woman from a hut in England? Lake Raila or Mboya would be ok with me.

Folks starting today, in line with reclaiming our lost pride in our culture, and identity lake Victria shall be called - Lake Rech Mang'eng. And for its yearly anniversary on March 2nd,all fish prices will be slashed into half. You order Ugali na rech ,you pay half the bill.It unfortunate that we took too long to correct this historical error.Nontheless its better late than never.Right?

Just a quick reminder; In his book "Not Yet Uhuru," the late Oginga Odinga states very clearly that the actual name of the lake was "NYANZA" before the illegal invasion and occupation of our land.

This name (Nyanza) was commonly used by the Bantu of Western Kenya before the land thieves, rapists, religious terrorists (missionaries) forced their entry into our country and occupied it after the heartless Berlin Conference gave the British my land of ancestry.

Similarly, the Great Waterfalls of Africa was given a colonial name when it was called "Victoria Falls." The local name is "Mosi-Oa-Tunya." A culturally liberated African would not identify the colonial names for the great African waterfalls or lake.

Finally, there is absolutely no excuse or any justification for identifying oneself with a biblical, koranic, or English colonial name(s).

Ni lazima tukate na kuiondoa minyororo ya ukoloni akilini mwetu 24/7.
