Housemaid Accused of Killing Her Employer’s Son Arrested

A housemaid accused of torturing her employer’s child, leading to his death has been arrested in Kahawa West.

Maureen Nyaboke, who has been on the run, was found taking a nap in a field in Mwihoko when she was arrested on Wednesday.

The suspect was reportedly hired by Wangui Wambeca on Tuesday last week to take care of her son and other house chores.

But the mother relieved Nyaboke of her duties a day later for allegedly beating up her son, unaware that the boy had sustained internal injuries.

Wambui later took her son to the hospital where doctors discovered that he had internal bleeding, which led to his death on Saturday.

The house help is currently being held at Kiamumbi police station in Kiambu as investigations continue.

“We have a postmortem report with us and it has indicated that the child had sustained severe internal bleeding and succumbed to the same on a Saturday. We will investigate and determine what transpired and charge her per the law,” Kiamumbi DCIO Caroline Gathoni said.

Through Facebook on Wednesday, former Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko pledged to help the family to seek justice.

I think we need to start doing a mental health evaluation to people that we entrust our kids with especially the dm, people who are not trained to be a nanny.

She deserves harsh treatment, not condemnation. She must be punished and so be it for persons who raised her.

I am sure there are monkeys on this forum that don't know what harsh treatment vs condemnation means!
