A Kenyan man in Des Moines, Iowa who suffered life-altering injuries after being attacked by a group of teenagers in 2013 has died.
Mike Wasike, 41, passed away on Monday.
Wasike was attacked by a group of three teenagers who were trying to steal his car as he drove home. The teenagers struck him on the head with a gun. The injuries left Wasike unable to walk or talk. He was also left unable to feed himself.
After several months in the hospital, Wasike was transferred to a rehab facility in Oklahoma. In 2015, he was moved to a care facility in 2015 where he was staying until his death.
Wasike moved to the United States in 2009 to live with his wife Joan Namachemo and their two children. He worked as a credit analyst for Wells Fargo prior to the attack.
Two of the three teenagers who attacked and robbed Wasike were sentenced to 50-year prison sentences for the robbery, while the third is serving a 20-year sentence.

Poleni sana.Waiting to here what the manegatives diaspora who always talk shit about insecurity in their country will comment about insecurity n such killings happening in their safe, milk n honey countries they resides.I have always said ur not safe in any country, not any country!!!
I have been in close proximity to three incidents in the US over the years where things could have gone south, quick. Home or the west, one has to be on guard.
Thuggery in Kenya caused by Tribalism, Corruption, Poverty,RIGGING of Presidential Elections, Sponsors of Crime, and Youth Patrons like Uhunye (NYS and MUNGIKI youth). In US its Personal Choice(s).
Oh shut up already! As you can see, the teens are serving 20-50 jail terms. A country of laws...you play you pay. Has Kenya found who killed Msando or Mbai? If such prominent deaths have no charges, What of poor people? They die like ants- no rehab, no care, no justice.
RIP Mike.
Poleni. Though it does not help, it's nice to know the culprits are rotting in jail. RIP Wekesa.

What to say. Senseless murder and ultimate price paid by an innocent human being. May close ones find a way to cope.
