40 Kenyan Governors, Senators to Grace Diaspora Summit in Dallas, Texas

More than 40 Kenyan leaders are set to attend the upcoming Diaspora Summit in Dallas, Texas.

Organizers of the event said the leaders, who include Governors and Senators are already in the US, attending the National Governors Association meeting in New Mexico.

The conference, dubbed “A comprehensive dive into the Kenya Diaspora” is organized by
Kenya Diaspora Advisory Council of Texas and will take place from July 23rd.

Kenya Diaspora Advisory Council of Texas is a brainchild of former Kenyan Ambassador to the US Elkanah Odembo.

The event aims at creating a forum for Kenyans living and working in the US and Canada to exchange ideas on how to develop Kenyan counties.

The Diaspora will also use the opportunity to woo leaders to push for involvement of Kenyans abroad in elections back home.

“It’s all systems go and we are ready to host probably one of the biggest diaspora conferences in recent memory. A quick look at the list of those Kenyans living in the US who will be attending indicates that we will have representation from almost all the 50 states. We are very excited about this,” Benson Kioko Kasue, one of the organizers, told Daily Nation.

Governors Josephat Nanok (Turkana), Charity Ngilu (Kitui), Joyce Laboso (Bomet), Stephen Sang (Nandi), and Stanley Tarus of Trans Nzioa are some of leaders expected to address the event.

Kenya’s Ambassador to the US Robinson Njeru Githae will officially open the conference on Monday.

Waste of funds by governors. From Russia following an inflated leather and now to Dallas. These are political tourists, when do they ever stay settled and implement their development plans? How much are they spending on tickets, accommodation and allowances? All these could have been spent to pay down our debt, reduce hunger and give real dignity to those that they represent. God help Kenya!!!

@Kiprono, Kenyans in diaspora should stop entertaining this nonsense. We know they are using counties money for joyride and staying in 5 stars hotels while people who voted for them cannot afford 3 meals per day. You do not need to come to USA to know how to dig a pit latrine for a local school or buy school desks

Useless people. Nothing to be gained here except free vacations. Corrupt politicians. Work on the ever expanding disease called corruption before you pretend that you care. Horrible people.

Here come the crooks and diaspora wanabes looking for appointments from this governors.
This is Bullshiet. Laboso was here the other day at a medical equipment presentation and all she did was yawn, appear disinterested and chew gum. Most of these people come here: socially backward, functionally illiterate, and thoroughly uninterested. Waste of Tax-payer money and time.

Has anyone ever seen US governors (even 5) go to say Europe to "engage"?

Africans are irretrievably corrupt, liars and conmen.

OMG! At what cost? At whose cost? What happened to SKYPE and other telecons? Organizers of such wasteful tours are suspect too.
