Veteran news anchor Victoria Rubadiri is departing Citizen TV after six years with the network.
The announcement was made by Royal Media Services (RMS) Group Editorial Director Linus Kaikai. Rubadiri, known for her elegance and journalistic prowess, co-hosted the popular #SundayLive program. Her eloquence earned the show the nickname "American Edition," a testament to her polished delivery. Rubadiri's impressive tenure included winning the prestigious Komla Dumor Award. This recognition entailed a three-month stint in London collaborating with the BBC.
The BBC's rigorous training program honed Rubadiri's journalistic skills and broadened her global perspective. Rubadiri's decision to leave follows the departures of other prominent Citizen TV anchors. Last year, Waihiga Mwaura, another Komla Dumor awardee, joined the BBC's Focus on Africa program. Similarly, Francis Gachuri, the former Senior Political Editor, transitioned to a role within the Ministry of Interior and National Administration.
Rubadiri's legacy will undoubtedly leave a lasting impression on Kenyan journalism. While her departure creates a void at Citizen TV, the impact she made will continue to resonate for years to come.
